Local Charities

In 2016 the lodge supported the following local charities

Stable Family Home Trust

The Stable Family Home Trust (SFHT) is a Registered Charity that supports people with a learning disability - based in Ringwood.

SFHT offers a wide range of services to people with a learning disability and their families: supported lives in residential homes, a personal development programme, domiciliary support, and supported living. SFHT now supports more than one hundred and twenty people.

SFHT was established in 1980 by a group of families whose young adult children had learning disabilities. There were few family-based living options at that time and the families set up a residential home at the Stables in Bisterne, Hampshire.

Over time three houses were purchased in the Southbourne area of Bournemouth as more people sought services with the Charity and day services were set up to offer meaningful daytime activities.

Southborne Tennis Club

Southbourne Tennis Club provide coaching and training to visually impaired and disabled people to help them enjoy a sporting activity. They have recently purchased special sports wheelchairs which we were able to help fund.

McMillan Caring Locally

The Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital is a Specialist Palliative Care Unit for patients in South East Dorset and South West Hampshire. It is run by the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the core services are met by the Hospital Trust. In 2009 it was awarded ‘Practice Development Unit Status’, making it a Centre of Excellence.

‘Macmillan Caring Locally’ is a Charitable Trust operating from offices in the Macmillan Unit, which provides funding to enhance this care, and to provide an attractive, homely environment for patients and their families and visitors. The charity also provides funds for nursing and medical equipment to improve patient treatment and comfort. Macmillan Caring Locally is a small charity and is not connected in any way to the national charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

Brenda Traylen

Brenda Traylen MBE organises a pre Christmas party for less abled senior citizens of Christchurch. The party has entertainment and Father Christmas giving out presents as well as a fish and chip supper.

We help to fund the event which includes a fleet of wheelchair accessible vehicles for the party goers many of whom it is their only Christmas event and a treat to leave the confines of their homes.

Lakewood Restoration

This is a community project focused on restoring a lake in Highcliffe back to it's former glory so that the local youngsters can enjoy one of the simple pleasures in life 'fishing'.
